Production and consumption stood at 52,000 tonnes and 82,650 tonnes, respectively, in the year-ago month.
Imports of natural rubber went up 3 per cent to 44,520 tonnes in October from 43,276 tonnes in the same month last year while exports rose marginally to 125 tonnes from 113 tonnes during the period under review.
During April-October period of the 2016-17 financial year, production increased nearly 11 per cent to 3,65,000 tonnes from 3,29,000 tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year, the data showed.
Natural rubber imports increased to 2,94,937 tonnes during April-October period of this fiscal from 2,78,163 tonnes in the year-ago period. Exports increased to 650 tonnes from 346 tonnes during the period under review.
The stock at the end of October was 2.6 lakh tonnes.
