Former "Glee" star Naya Rivera has revealed in her memoir "Sorry Not Sorry" that she got pregnant back in late 2010, but decided to get an abortion for the sake of her career.
In an excerpt from the book, Rivera, 29, says she found out that she's pregnant with Ryan Dorsey's baby just weeks after she broke up with him.
She decided she didn't want the baby and terminated the pregnancy when she was taking a day off from filming "Glee", reported People magazine.
Rivera writes in her book that she didn't tell Dorsey about the baby.
"It was very scary to open up about it. It's not something a lot of people talk about, but I think they should. I know some people might read it and say, 'What the Hell?' But I hope someone out there gets something out of it," she said.
That "someone" she hopes will get something out of her book is son Josey whom she welcomed with Dorsey last year after they got married in 2014.
"I hope Josey will read it one day. I hope it gives him a better perspective on the issues women face. And hopefully he'll think I'm cool as hell," she said.
Rivera has also opened up about the eating disorder she battled as a teen. She said she started avoiding food to cope with her parents' split and her stalled career.
"By the time I was a sophomore, I started feeling that what had begun as a game had maybe gone too far. I just avoided food at all costs. If my mom had packed a lunch for me, I'd either trash it or find some excuse to give it away.
"I was so young and it just seemed to be the norm. Everyone was going through similar stuff. I had no way of knowing if I was going through it worse. I was juggling my feelings and it makes me sad that there are girls still going through that 15 years after I went through it," she shared.
