Opposition National Conference today alleged a "politico-goon-contractor nexus" in toll plaza contracts in Jammu and Kashmir and claimed that it had BJP's patronage, which it threatened to "expose".
"There is a big politico-goon-contractor nexus. What interest does BJP have in toll plaza? Who (in BJP) are being the contractors? What is the role of BJP in this contract? There should revelation of all things," NC's Provincial President and MLA Devender Singh Rana told reporters here.
"I warn BJP that they should come out of this nexus. If they do not stop, I will expose the contours of this nexus. Everybody knows who is collecting money on whose patronage," he said.
Asked whether any BJP minister was "involved" in this nexus, Rana said "there would many more than a minister in this. When the time comes, we will expose it."
The NC MLA referred to a decision taken at a meeting convened by Minister for Roads and Buildings Altaf Bukhari on April 11 about rationalization of the toll tax and wondered how the BJP lobby managed to get the recommendations of the state government "sabotaged and shelved".
"Who in BJP is stopping R&B Minister from doing so? We are still hopeful about the commitment made by the R&B Minister notwithstanding BJP becoming a stumbling block," he said and hinted at quid pro quo in allowing this type of tax regime.
"On the one hand, the Centre is mulling to have an express highway from Delhi to Katra, the base camp for Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage and on the other taxes were being levied on the incoming pilgrims," he said.
