Expressing apprehension that use of religion in politics will hamper the development of state, ruling National Conference today hoped that assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will witness healthy political discourse on growth and development.
"We express apprehension that use of caste, creed and religion by those in public life will ultimately culminate into hampering development of the state," Provincial President of National Conference Devender Singh Rana said today.
Rana hoped that the ensuing assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will witness healthy political discourse on development, social economic transformation and growth in various sectors.
He was speaking at a function held here to welcome social leader Rajinder Singh and his associates into the party.
Rajinder contested the Assembly elections in 2008 from Nagrota constituency as an Independent candidate and later joined BJP.
"Undertaking development and sustaining peace has all along been the main plank of National Conference," Rana said, adding that the party will never deviate from this agenda and shall continue to work for inclusive development for all.
He said the opposition is the essence of democracy, provided it remains within the precincts of decency and good human behaviour.
"Once the red line is jumped, it paves the way for chaos and mistrust in society," he said.
The Provincial President congratulated the new entrants and exhorted them to work for development and prosperity of Nagrota Assembly constituency.
"Being so close to the state capital and situated on the national highway, this constituency should have been a real model of development and prosperity but it has not happened so far," he said.
