NC issues show-cause notice to former party MP Shaheen

Ruling National Conference today issued a show-cause notice to senior party leader and former MP A R Shaheen following his reported remarks that the party could only be "saved from disaster" if party president Farooq Abdullah and his Chief Minister son Omar Abdullah are shown the door.
"National Conference Provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani has issued a show-cause notice on behalf of the party to Shaheen for issuing baseless and unacceptable statements against the party leadership in the media," a party release said here.
Quoting Wani, the release said the rank-and-file of the NC are united under the "able and visionary" leadership of party president Abdullah and working president Omar and Shaheen's utterings are "figments of his imagination" and could be perhaps "motivated solely by personal ambitions and interests".

"The show-cause notice gives Shaheen a week to respond and clarify his stand, failing which strict disciplinary action will be initiated against him by the party," the NC release said.
Shaheen, who is in-charge of National Conference for north Kashmir, reportedly accused Omar and his father of destroying the credibility of the party.
