Ruling National Conference today said it will emerge as the single largest party in the Assembly polls by maintaining an edge in all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and provide a stable government to the people of the state.
"National Conference will emerge as the single largest party in the upcoming Assembly elections by maintaining edge in all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh," party's Provincial President Devender Singh Rana said addressing a day-long party convention in Kathua.
"Given the committed cadre base, upright leadership and presence across the state, National Conference will provide a stable government," he said.
"The party had faired well in most of the constituencies in Jammu in 2008 Assembly elections which gives us confidence to have a good number of seats from here alongside majority in the Valley and Ladakh," he said.
Attacking the opposition, Rana alleged parties like PDP and BJP were "spreading vicious propaganda" with an eye on votes.
These parties are making tall claims about numbers in the ensuing elections, but their political relevance is a big question mark, he said.
"Despite lacking minimum-required political base in the Jammu province, PDP is running paper tigers with loud speak," he alleged.
On the issues of rehabilitation of refugees, Rana said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is seized of the problems of the displaced population of PoK and efforts are on to redress their problems.
"There has to be a package which is already under consideration of the government," Rana added.
He further said several misgivings were being spread about the state subject laws, ignoring the historic reality that it was Maharaja Hari Singh who enacted this revolutionary legislation in 1927 to save the people of Jammu and Kashmir from dominance of elite and affluent sections of non-state subjects.
