NC worker shot dead in Srinagar

A ruling National Conference worker was shot dead by militants today in Nowhatta area of the city, police said.
Lateef Ahmad Gupkari was shot at from close range by militants this afternoon, police said.
He was rushed to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences at Soura where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Gupkari, a shopkeeper by profession, was affiliated to the ruling NC.
No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the killing so far.
This is the first killing of a political worker since floods hit Kashmir Valley at the start of September.
