NCCF is already selling tur and urad at a subsidised rate of Rs 120/kg along with Mother Dairy and Kendriya Bhandar.
Due to tight supply of tur and urad, there has been a sudden spike in chana dal prices, touching Rs 101/kg in the national capital from Rs 68/kg a year ago.
"In order to ensure availability of pulses at reasonable prices, NCCF has been directed to start selling chana dal at Rs 60/kg thorough its mobile outlets in Delhi," the Union Food Ministry said in a statement.
NCCF Managing Director Kamal Chowdhery, who was also present in the meeting, said it would begin the sale of chana dal once the commodity is allotted by the centre.
"We can sell immediately the unmilled chana, but milled gram would take minimum 10 days," he told PTI.
So far, NCCF has sold 50 quintals of tur dal in the national capital through its three mobile vans in localities resided by weaker sections. It is getting milled 100 tonnes of tur, which will soon be offloaded in the market.
