The country needs to adopt scientific methods in order to encourage use of information technology in Hindi which cannot be done by merely getting emotional on the issue, noted Hindi poet Ashok Chakradhar said today.
Chakradhar, who specialises in satire and comedy, was chairing a session on "Information Technology in Hindi" on the second day of the three-day-long 'Vishwa Hindi Sammelan' here today.
"Country need to adopt scientific methods to encourage use of information technology in Hindi. Merely getting emotional on the issue (using IT in Hindi) will be of no help," he said.
Chakradhar said Union government's CDAC and Communications and Information Technology Departments among others have developed number of mobile apps, in-script keyboard and software to encourage people to use Hindi and other Indian languages.
"Maximum use of these gadgets will help in enhancing the use of Hindi and other Indian languages in computers," he said.
Bharat Kosh Portal's Aditya Kumar said Indians have to make much more efforts for use of computer.
"Bharat Kosh portal has 31,000 articles, 12,000 photos and over 1.5 lakh pages of information related to different fields is available for the use of public," he said.
Computer expert Vijay Kumar Malhotra recalled the contribution of professor Surajbhan for using Hindi in computers.
He said "Leela" is country's best software in Hindi. "But there is a scope for improvement in it by keeping in mind foreign languages," Malhotra added.
Minister of State for External Affairs, General (retd) V K Singh, senior journalist Rahul Dev and a number of computer experts were present on the occasion.
