Singh was addressing a conference of superintendents of police (SPs) of the state here at police headquarters in Naya Raipur.
Keeping in view the challenges of changing scenario and cyber crimes, there is need to equip police with the latest technology, an official statement quoted Chief Minister as saying on the occasion.
Underlining the need for smart policing, Singh said criminals are now using new techniques while committing offences, therefore, there is a need to impart training of latest technology to station house officers (SHOs) and police personnel functioning at ground level.
Besides, he also laid stress on strengthening intelligence mechanism and using modern technology in exchanging inputs, the release said.
"The fight against naxals in Chhattisgarh is among the most important battles being fought to counter the menace of left wing extremism in the country.
"The police is bearing twin responsibilities of maintaining the law and order along with taking on naxal challenge in the insurgency-hit areas," he said.
The CM further emphasized on the need for a better coordination between civil and police administration for the effective implementation of schemes and carry out development works in these areas.
To provide basic amenities to police personnel, houses are also being constructed for them across the state, the CM said.
He also instructed police personnel to take stern action to prevent gambling, batting and illegal sale of liquor.
Moreover, he also asked them to improve police database to check crimes.
Meanwhile, presentations were also given by different officials on road safety, efforts to curb terror funding, achievements of police housing corporation and others, the statement said.
