Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala today asked all political parties in the country to abandon their rigidity and show flexibility for the timely promulgation of a new Constitution.
"A new constitution could be drafted as per the calendar if parties gave up their rigid attitude," Koirala said at an event here.
Speaking at the 3rd National Trade Union Conference organized by Joint Trade Union Coordination Centre, the Prime Minister pointed out the need for accommodating aspirations of all to promulgate a new constitution by the January 22 deadline.
"A new constitution is important for peace, stability and democracy; therefore it should be issued in the stipulated time," he said.
The political parties in Nepal are sharply divided on key issues of the constitution including forms of governance, federal structure and electoral system.
He said that the constitution should be promulgated as a win-win situation for all.
Koirala also added that grievances of workers would be resolved with the formation of a labour commission during his tenure and assured that the new constitution would address the issues related to the labourers.
The National Trade Union Conference was organised with the slogan of 'unity in diversity' and pitched different proposals on fixing minimum wages, labour law and social security laws.
