The conference will be held under the aegis of the United Nations Environment Programme in collaboration with Ministry of Environment and Forests and Ministry of Water Resources.
It will be inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee and presided by Chief Justice of India J S Khehar and attended by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave among others.
Foreign delegates from over 80 countries, chief justices from high courts, judges, environmentalists, lawyers, academicians and others will be participating in the event to be held at Vigyan Bhavan here.
"People on international level are very interested to know about the role of NGT. The objective of this conference is to bring on one platform the various legal systems of the world to find resolution to the issues of environment.
"Environment is not geographically limited. What will happen in Atlantic is going to affect other parts as well. We want all jurisdictions to come together and deliberate on serious environmental issues," Justice Kumar said, adding the conference intends to create awareness among all the stakeholders in relation to various emerging issues of environment.
