NHPC shares up nearly 4% post Q1 earnings

Shares of NHPC today rose by nearly 4 per cent after the company reported a 7.47 per cent rise in standalone net profit for the quarter ended June 30.
The scrip gained 3.65 per cent to end at Rs 27 on BSE. During the day, it went up by 4.79 per cent to Rs 27.30 -- its 52-week high.
On NSE, shares of the company rose by 3.25 to settle a Rs 27.
State-owned NHPC on Friday reported a 7.47 per cent rise in standalone net profit at Rs 857.82 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016.
The company had posted a standalone net profit of Rs 798.17 crore a year-ago.
Income from operations increased to Rs 2,196.79 crore from Rs 2,001.67 crore in the year-ago period.
Total expenses of the company during April-June period increased to Rs 1,178.67 crore over Rs 1,078.48 crore in the corresponding period of previous fiscal.
