The five Naxalites, including 'central technical committee' member Sadula Ramakrishna alias Sadanala Ramakrishna, Dipak Kumar, Sukumar Mondal, Sambhu Charan and Bapi Mudi were arrested in a joint operation by the elite anti-Naxal force Greyhounds of Andhra Pradesh and the STF of Kolkata Police in March. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) later took over the case.

The NIA, in its charge sheet, has charged the five with "entering into a criminal conspiracy to wage war" against the government of India and being members of the banned terrorist organisation CPI (Maoist).

"In furtherance of their conspiracy, they collected explosive substances, prohibited ammunition, huge amount of money and made efforts to manufacture area weapons among others in a concealed manner," the NIA said in its charge sheet filed in the special court.

"Several incriminating items recovered from the accused which included cash of Rs 96,66,755 as the proceeds of terrorism, prohibited ammunition, explosive materials, Maoist literatures, several diagrams and literature on rocket launchers and on other area weapons.

"Documents connected with the transport of components and assembly tools and materials to Raipur from Kolkata and Mumbai, and several finished components of rocket launchers and other area weapons including 69 wooden crates at a godown in Raipur and the recoveries from a workshop established by the accused in Kolkata," the NIA recorded in its charge sheet.
