During a special drive, a police team was on patrol duty near Football Stadium, Sector-17, when they noticed that a pedestrian who was coming from the bus stand, on seeing them, started fleeing, they said.
He turned towards the gate of the football stadium and took out something from his pocket, trying to throw it away, but was apprehended by the team, they added.
The accused was identified as Emmanuel Chukwunonye and during investigation he revealed that he would travel from Delhi and supply drugs to youngsters in discos and pubs in Chandigarh with the help of local drug peddlers, police said.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
