Nishank, who is currently a BJP MP from Haridwar, has authored a number of books and anthologies.
Honouring the former chief minister with the award in recognition of his literary work at Kampala last night, the Ugandan Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda said Nishank's literary oeuvre bears testimony to the fact that despite being a politician he attaches utmost importance to promotion of human values in life, a statement from the MP's office said.
Describing Nishank's literary work as representing a rare confluence of politics and literature, Rugunda said he was proud to confer him with the award.
