Concerned about rising protests over issues like power, road construction and accident, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said it is joint responsibility of the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police to keep the situation under control.
Addressing a meeting of DMs and SPs here, the CM instructed officials to pay immediate compensation to victims of accident regardless of them belonging to BPL or APL families.
Briefing about the meeting on Law and Order, Principal Secretary of Cabinet Coordination Brajesh Malhotra said that if there is any incident of communal or caste tension, DM and SP should ensure sufficient forces reach the spot to normalise the situation.
The CM stressed on speedy trials to ensure the case is solved expeditiously.
Malhotra said the CM ordered all the DMs to send all officials to attend any one panchayat of the district every year to ensure MGNREGA scheme is implemented.
"Every panchayat shall be probed of proper implementation of MGNREGA scheme at least once a year," he quoted the CM as saying.
Malhotra instructed DMs and SPs to hold Janata Darbar jointly every Thursday of first week of the month to solve the problem of the people on the spot. The CM asked minister in-charge of the district and peoples representatives to participate in these meetings.
