National Mazdoor Conference today appealed to Jammu and Kashmir government to release 10 per cent Dearness Allowance due from January last in favour of its employees and pensioners.
"We appeal to the state government to release 10 per cent DA due from January last in favour of its employees and pensioners to neutralise the affect of inflation and price hike," NMC president Subash Shastri said while addressing a workers' rally at Marh, near here.
"The same has already been released by the government of Haryana to its employees and pensioners yesterday during the Model Code of Conduct," Shastri said.
"There is a need for early release of 10 per cent DA due from January last. We appeal to the state government to take immediate decision in this regard," he said.
The DA was part of salary and routine financial matter and so there should be no hitch in release of pending installment, he said, adding that Model Code of Conduct does not bearing on it when the election of all the six seats of Lok Sabha is already over in Jammu and Kashmir.
Referring to the forthcoming first meeting of the state Cabinet is being held in the summer capital of state by this month, Shastri hoped that it will provide relief to the employees of the state government and pensioners and their many long pending demands would get addressed.
Demanding early release of pending wages of daily-rated workers in various departments of the state government, he said these wagers were facing serious financial hardships as their services had not been regularised for the last many years nor were they getting their wages regularly.
He also demanded the enhancement of the remuneration of daily wagers to Rs 10,000 per month, regularisation of services of the daily wagers, casual and seasonal laborers, increase in medical allowances and issue of regularisation orders to 180 daily wagers working in the Rural Development Department.
