National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed to Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to release the pending installment of six per cent Dearness Allowance due since January, in favour of employees and pensioners in the first cabinet meeting here.
"We appeal to chief minister to release the DA to employees of state government and pensioners in the first cabinet meeting in the summer capital of the state after Darbar Move, so that they get relief in view of increasing prices of essential commodities," NMC President Subash Shastri said addressing the party activists here today.
Shastri said that in view of the inbuilt provisions in the annual budget, there should not be any hitch for the state government as it is a routine financial matter, more so when others states have already released the DA installment.
He said an early decision would genuinely provide some relief to them.
Shastri said the Central 4th Pay Commission, which was implemented in January, 1986 by the then government, also had recommendations that as soon as DA crosses more than 50 per cent, the Centre is under an obligation to merge 50 per cent DA into basic pay or pension.
He said that now as the DA has already touched 113 per cent, they request for early merger of 50 per cent DA into basic pay/pension with retrospective effect so that the confusion and uncertainty on this vital issue among the crores of employees and pensioners could end.
Shastri also voiced serious concern over the non-payment of 5th installment of 6th Pay Commission arrears to pensioners and employees.
He further demanded creation of a separate wage head for quick disbursement of pending wages of daily-rated workers working in various departments of the state government and enhancement their wages to Rs 10,000 per month.
