"Even after selecting a candidate, if we find out that there are serious charges against him or her, we will not mind keeping the seat vacant or withdrawing the candidature. But, no compromise will be made on the credibility of candidates," AAP national secretary Pankaj Gupta told reporters here.
The party has already launched its poll campaign with its national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal paying three visits to the coastal state so far.
"The process of finalising the candidates has already begun for all the 40 Assembly seats and the first list would be announced around the first week of September," said Gupta.
Gupta said volunteers from each constituency will recommend the names of candidates which would be placed before the party's screening committee.
"The screening committee will zero in on three to five names which would be forwarded to the national political affairs committee which will announce the names of the candidates," he added.
Gupta asserted that the candidates would be chosen "strictly" from the list submitted by AAP volunteers.
"Any candidate with corruption charges or acriminal background will never be given a poll ticket," he said.
