No confidence motion against Aurangabad civic chief passed

The no-confidence motion brought against the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) chief Prakash Mahajan was today passed by 95-13 votes.
The move was initiated by the ruling alliance partner Shiv Sena. BJP and AIMIM also voted in favour.
The elected members of AMC had tabled the proposal alleging that the Commissioner does not cooperate with them at all and due to his adamant and lethargic attitude, the development of the city, heading towards becoming a 'Smart City', had come to a standstill.
In the House of 113 members, 95 voted in favour of no confidence whereas 13 members of Congress and NCP voted against the move.
Five members abstained from attending the General Body meeting of AMC. The decision would be sent to the state government for further action. The party situation in the house is Shiv Sena-28, BJP-22, AIMIM-25, Congress-10, NCP-03, BSP-05 and RPI (Democratic)-02. Independent-18.
