Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today said he would quit politics if the allegations against him of favouring his relatives in allotment of mines were proved.
"The opposition BJP is levelling false and baseless allegations which I have already rejected and is rejecting even today," he told reporters here.
"I do not believe in nepotism. There is no irregularity in the allotment of mines," he said.
A few days ago, media reports alleged close relatives of the Chief Minister were allotted mines in Jodhpur.
When the issue figured in the state assembly recently, Gehlot said the decision was taken by the Cabinet and none was favoured in the allotment of mines.
He said the proposed refinery in Barmer would change the economy of the desert state in a positive way.
On the transfer of the Jaipur Police Commissioner to pacify agitating advocates in Jaipur, Gehlot said transfers were a routine affair.
