No respite from cold in Himachal, snowfall in higher hills

There was no respite from cold wave in Himachal Pradesh as intermittent snowfall continued in tribal areas while rains accompanied by icy winds lashed lower and mid hills of the state today.
The minimum temperature dropped marginally in most parts of the state while there was no significant change in the maximum temperature.
Tribal areas of Keylong, Kalpa and Rohtang Pass received 3.0 cm, 2.3 cm and 1.0 Cm of fresh snow respectively.
Scattered rains lashed middle and lower hills with Bhandal receiving a maximum rainfall of 22 mm followed by Manali 14.2 mm, Salauni 12 mm, Kalatop 7 mm, Dalhousie 5 mm and Shimla and Palampur 2 mm each.
Keylong was coldest with the minimum temperature setting at minus 2.2 degree C, followed by Kalpa minus 1.8 degree, Dalhousie minus 0.5, Manali minus 0.1 degree, Shimla 4.2 degree, Dharamshala 6.4 degrees and Una 6.5 degrees.
Solan recorded a low of 7.4 degrees followed by Bhuntar 7.5 degree, Sundernagar 9.1 degree and Kangra 10.2 degree C.
Una was the warmest with a high of 20.8 degrees followed by Nahan 19.2 degree, Sundernagar 18.9 degree, Solan 18.2 degree, Bhuntar 15 degree, Shimla 12.4 degree and Kalpa 4.6 degree C.
The Meteorological department has predicted heavy to very heavy snow and rainfall in high and mid hills and rain and thunderstorms in low hills in the next 72 hours.
