No threat from China in Ladakh: Shinde

He also said the issue of detection of 550-mt tunnel from Pakistan into Indian territory in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir would be taken up with Pakisan at the highest level.

"I have been asked this question by mediapersons after my visit to Pangong Lake (Chinese bordering area in Ladakh) about the movement of Chinese there. I found there is no infiltration (transgression of Chinese troops)," he told reporters at forward border octroi post in Jammu district.

Shinde also said, "There is no problem from China (in Ladakh sector) till now."

The Home Minister, who began his 3-day visit to the state from Poonch border district, reviewed the security situation and cross-border infiltration along Line of Control (LoC) in Chakan-da-Bagh forward area in Poonch and International Border in Suchetgarh sector of Jammu district.

To a question as to whether India will take up with Pakistan detection of the tunnel in Samba sector and several incidents of firing and injuries to villagers, he said, "Yes, certainly it will be taken up at the highest level."

On cross-border infiltration, he said, "It is right that some times infiltrations do take place, but our jawans and officers are doing a commendable job and I appreciate them."

Shinde also said that he had taken up the issue with the Interior Minister of Pakistan on the sidelines of SAARC meeting at Maldives and they are also serious.

He reviewed the progress of the cross-LOC trade and met a delegation of traders to discuss their problems. He promised all help in strengthening cross-LoC trade with Pakistan.Later, he inspected the 3-tier border fencing in R S Pura.
