Members of the opposition AIADMK and AINRC alleged that the students seeking admissions in medical colleges faced hardships owing to lack of proper approach in deciding the list of candidates for the medical courses.
Ruling Congress MLAs and a section of Ministers took strong exception to the allegations of the opposition while Speaker V Vaithilingam ordered switching off of all the microphones of the opposition.
Anbalagan contended that the territorial government had committed a blunder of conducting the counselling without fixing the fees first.
He also alleged that there was an attempt to divert the unfilled seats to management quota of the colleges.
Former Chief Minister and Leader of the opposition N Rangasamy also sought a detailed probe into the alleged irregularities in the selection process.
Narayanasamy told the House that he would present a detailed reporttomorrow as to how many students were selected along with other details relating to admissions.
He also said the state government had issued show cause notices to the managements of the some colleges herefor declining to admit students selected through CENTAC for PG courses on the ground that the fee fixed by the Fee committee wasnot acceptable to them.
