Actress Disha Patani has refuted reports suggesting that she has signed the upcoming sequel to filmmaker Karan Johar's college drama "Student of the Year".
The sequel, which will be directed by Punit Malhotra, stars actor Tiger Shroff in the lead role. There have been reports that Disha, rumoured to be Tiger's girlfriend, is also part of it.
When asked about it, the 24-year-old "MS Dhoni" actress told reporters here, "No one has approached me on it. I don't know where do these stories come from. I wish I were a part of the film but it is not true."
While the original film was a love triangle featuring Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra, the sequel will have two girls romancing Tiger. It will be produced by Johar, who directed the first part.
Disha was speaking at the Sansui Colors Stardust Awards, where she bagged the best newcomer trophy. The actress said that receiving it from her "MS Dhoni" co-star Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon was special.
"It was really special as Sushant was my co-star in the film and Kriti got this award two years ago for her first film. So, I am really happy that I got the award from them," she said.
The young actress is now looking forward to her maiden Indo-Chinese film, "Kung Fu Yoga", which also stars Chinese superstar Jackie Chan and Sonu Sood. Disha revealed that the action star will visit India to promote it. The film releases next year.
