The Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab today attacked the Amarinder Singh government for failing to announce a roadmap for waiver of farmer's loan despite being in power for two months and threatened to launch an agitation if it fails to do so by May 31.
AAP state president and MP, Bhagwant Mann claimed that more than 40 farmers have committed suicide in last 56 days of the Congress government's rule.
Although the Congress has replaced the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in government but nothing has changed for the farmer in the state, Mann told reporters.
He said that the new government has completed its two- months in power but no roadmap in this regard has been announced yet.
The AAP leader said the state's financial condition can not be an excuse for the Congress government to run away from the promise of waving farm debt as the party was aware of the conditions when it was making promises with the farmers before the Assembly elections.
Mann asked the chief minister to announce a time frame to waive their loans.
Giving two-weeks time for announcing the waiver, Mann said that if the government fails to waive the loans by May 30, AAP along with farmers of the state will start agitations throughout the state.
