On receiving information that members of Pramod gang were hiding in an agriculture field in Gagnoli village, police launched an operation and in the ensuing encounter one of the gang members was killed and another injured while five others managed to escape.
The deceased criminal, identified as Bhagat, was accused in nine cases of murder and attempt to murder while the injured, who has four murder cases registered against him, has been hospitalised, police said.
One 30 Springfield English rifle, 12 bore pump-action gun, one 315 bore country-made weapon, 11 mobile phones and over 100 unused cartridges were recovered from their possession, police added.
