"DABU is going to pay Rs 25 lakh as a fee to the yesteryear Bollywood actress Hema Malini to perform at the inaugural function of South Asian Universities Youth Festival (SAUFEST) beginning on February 28," National Students Union of India's Madhya Pradesh vice president Javeed Khan said.
Besides the hefty fee for Malini, Rs 5 lakh would be spent on the stage and other things, he claimed, speaking to reporters here.
Khan also alleged that Malini's show was an attempt to 'saffronise' the festival.
"We have handed over a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor Narendra Dhakat, demanding that the show be scrapped," he said.
Three hundred student-delegates from south Asian countries including Pakistan and Afghanistan would be taking part in the 10th SAUFEST here.
