Obama calls congratulates Malaysia's Najib

US President Barack Obama has congratulated Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on his victory in parliamentary elections, the White House said today.
In a call, the US president reaffirmed the strong bonds of friendship between the United States and Malaysia.
"The President noted that Malaysians had turned out in record numbers to vote and welcomed the Prime Minister's efforts to address concerns about election irregularities," the White House said in a statement.
The two leaders discussed the importance of continuing to deepen our bilateral cooperation, including on expanding cooperation on trade, regional security, and multilateral cooperation, the statement said.
Najib's National Front coalition won elections last week but opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim complained that the victory was only achieved through fraud.
