Outgoing US President Barack Obama has made it a priority for his administration to ensure a smooth transition for his successor, the White House has said four days ahead of the general elections.
"We have indicated a priority that President Obama has placed on ensuring a smooth transition to the next President regardless of who that person is," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters while travelling with Obama to Fayetteville yesterday.
Obama addressed an election rally seeking support for his former Cabinet colleague and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
The transition teams of both the Hillary and Trump campaigns are already in place and have their headquarters in Washington DC.
After November 8 one of them would be closed, while that the winner would be expanded and would start coordinating with the White House and other wings of the government to ensure a smooth transition.
"Our transition team has been able to work effectively with those individuals appointed by Trump to ensure that his team is able to effectively plan in the same way that Secretary Clinton's team has. We expect that that planning will continue up to and through Election Day," Earnest said.
