Morcha President S P Singh Baghel said the Morcha will help connect backward classes with the party and create awareness among them.
The Morcha, which has been formed for the first time by BJP, will also felicitate party president Amit Shah at the party headquarters on July 10, which will be attended by backward class leaders from all over the country.
"The OBC Morcha aims to connect with the backward classes across the country and help create awareness of their rights, besides empowering them. The Morcha will also fight for their rights," Baghel said.
He said nearly half the population belongs to backward classes and the party seeks to connect with all of them. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is also working for development of all communities.
BJP feels that OBCs influence politics across the country and are key to electoral victory in some key states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, where it is seeking to wrest power. By having a separate wing for the OBCs, BJP seeks to woo the backward communities.
"We will try and include all backward communities and make representatives of each community," he said.
OBCs have traditionally backed regional parties like those of Lalu Prasad, Nitish Kumar and Mulayam Singh Yadav but the BJP has now focussed on them to win them over.
