Odisha claims 28 per cent growth in revenue generation

The Odisha government today claimed to have achieved around 28 per cent growth in revenue generation from own tax and non-tax sectors by August-end, official sources said.
Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, R Balakrishnan while presenting the state's fiscal position at a secretary-level meeting, said the revenue generation from own tax sources during 2015-16 has been Rs 8,600.91 crore by the end of August, 2015, a growth of 32.54 per cent over the year-ago period.
The revenue collection from non-tax sources has been more than Rs 2,334 crore, a growth of around 13 per cent over the same period last year, he said.
The overall revenue generation from both these sources has been Rs 10,935 crore by August, recording a total growth of around 28 per cent over the previous year.
The State Plan Expenditure has also shown a growth of around 65 per cent during the current fiscal by the end of August, Balakrishnan said.
Chief Secretary G C Pati advised the principal secretaries and secretaries of various departments to strengthen monitoring and supervision at the field level and speed up the process of implementation of the developmental projects in a time-bound manner.
The Chief Secretary also advised the departments to take up inter-departmental coordinated activities in implementation of flagship programmes like housing for all, IPR 2015, ease of doing business in Odisha, smart city and others.
