The highest temperature of 46.7 degree Celsius was recorded in Jharsuguda, while the coal belt of Talcher in Angul district registered 46.2 degree Celsius followed by 46.1 degrees at Hirakud and 46 degrees in Bhawanipatna and Bolangir, the met centre here said.
As the entire western Odisha sizzled under unbearable heat conditions, Titlagarh recorded the maximum temperature of 45.5 degree celsius followed by 45.4 degree Celsius in Sambalpur and 45 degree Celsius at Angul and Sundargarh, it said.
Disruption in the supply of electricity added to the woes of the people in many areas, sources said.
With the mercury level soaring, people chose to remain indoors during the day time in most places.
The day remained uncomfortable in the coastal belt as humidity level increased to 80 per cent mark.
Three deaths have been reported due to sun stroke so far during the current summer, but no fresh casualty due to sunstroke was confirmed during the last five days, official sources said.
