"The state government has filed review petition with the OERC to reconsider its decision to hike power tariff in agriculture sector", Energy minister Pranab Prakash Das said adding that the BJD government's move was keeping in view the interest of farmers.
In its new power tariff order for 2015-16, the OERC on March 24 raised electricity charges by 20 paise per unit for general consumers while hiking tariff for the farming sector by 40 paise per unit, the first hike in 15 years.
The BJP activists today demonstrated before the Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) here demanding roll back of the enhanced power tariff.
