decided to set up 13 different committees for smooth management of Asian Athletic Championship scheduled to be held for four days from July 6 at Kalinga Stadium here.
The championship, the third of its kind in India, would be participated by 700 athletes in 42 events - to 21 for men and 21 for women.
Replying to a question, Odisha Chief Secretary A P Padhi said around 45 countries along with around 20 world champion teams would participate in the event.
"About 1100 guests, including athletes, team officials and fans would be in Odisha for about 7 days. We have made the detail action plan for their travel, stay, practice, security and health care."
A high level preparatory meeting held under his chairmanship decided to put in place all required arrangements ahead of the championship. Padhi directed sports and youth affairs department to make high quality reception, accommodation, health care and security arrangements for the athletes coming from various countries.
Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan said separate medical teams be constituted and tagged to various hotels where the athletes would be accommodated. He also advised to explore the possibilities of raising video-walls in various places of the city for branding, publicity and display of the grand event.
Target has been set to complete the preparatory works at Kalinga Stadium here by end of May, 2017, said the secretary to sports and youth affairs department Vishal Dev.
