Odisha Govt rolls out final phase of NFSA in 16 districts

Odisha government today rolled out the second and final phase of the National Food Security Act in the remaining 16 districts of the state, facilitating over five lakh families to receive food grains.
"Food grains will be distributed among 5,34,087 families of the remaining 16 districts across the state as per the NFSA," Minister of State for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Sanjay Dasburma told reporters here.
Districts covered under NFSA in the second phase are Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Balasore, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Rayagada and Sundergarh.
In the first phase, the act was implemented in the districts of Kandhamal, Angul, Subarnapur, Balangir, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Malkangiri, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Koraput, Boudh and Deogarh.

As per the Act, each beneficiary would get five kg of rice at the price of Rs 3 a kg and wheat at the rate of Rs 2 per kg.
Asked about complaints of faulty ration card distribution, Dasburma said the state government has already introduced Ration Card Management System for correcting the mistakes if any.
