Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) and Singapore-based ITE Education Services (ITEES) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for skill development in the state.
ITEES is a subsidiary of Singapore's prestigious Institute of Technical Education(ITE).
According to Chief Minister Navin Patnaik, 100 ITI teachers will be trained at Singapore at the ITE in 2018 as per the provision of the MoU.
"The initiative will certainly step up the quality of our skilled youths. I thank ITEES for helping us with knowledge, collaboration and international linkage," Patnaik said.
As a part of the collaboration, ITEES will share ITE's experiences in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and provide consultancy support to the OSDA in raising the quality of skill development and vocational training.
To start with, ITEES will be conducting a two-week training on leadership development for 100 leaders of government-run ITI institutions that are in the forefront of the TVET in the state.
The programme aims to develop human and social capital, contributing towards community development and enhancing the capabilities of skill development and vocational training in the state.
ITEES will also provide TVET consultancy support to OSDA regarding skill training institutes.
OSDA chairman Subrato Bagchi said, "We are delighted to forge a collaboration with the ITEES, a global leader in the area of technical training and skill development. We believe we can push up the standard of our ITIs to global levels with their help."
"We are looking forward for a very long collaboration," Chief Executive Officer of ITEES Singapore Bruce Poh said.
