The chief minister was speaking after inaugurating 164.30 m span bridge over Jhajjar Nallah, about 35 km from here today, connecting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Super Specialty Cancer Hospital with a National Highway.
"Government was keen to ensure holistic development of the state. Upgrading of road communication and linking up of rural and remote areas with main highways is imperative to achieve this goal", Omar said.
The bridge with 3.95 km of approach roads involved an expenditure of Rs 23.37 crore.
The bridge is a steel truss deck type, and the carriageway is 7.50 m, double lane. The work in the same was started in April 2010 and completed in July this year.
Minister for Roads and Buildings, Abdul Majid Wani and Minister of State for Home, Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo were also present on the occasion.
