The Local Crime Branch of Yavatmal police has arrested a man for allegedly accepting bets on the ongoing Indian Premier League T20 tournament.
Assistant police inspector Santosh Manwar said an anonymous caller tipped off the police yesterday about a betting racket operating from a house in Suraj Nagar here.
"We raided the house and arrested Rajesh Vishwambar Chamediya (45), who was running the racket," he said.
Bets were being taken on the outcome of forthcoming matches on mobile phone, the police officer said.
"We seized two mobile phones, a laptop, a TV set and Rs 90,000 in cash from the house," said Manwar.
Chamediya was produced before a court here today which set him free on bail, the officer said.
