: One person was killed and six others were injured Monday when theircar fell into a gorge after the driver lost control over the vehicle on the Kodaikanal-Palani Road, police said.
The seven people, including the driver, were all friends from Thrissur in Kerala and were on the way to Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu to celebrate the new year there, the police said.
Three of the six injured were rescued from the wreckage and hospitalised in Palani, while efforts were on to remove the rest from the accident site, they said.
Motorists who were passing by saw the damaged car and informed the police.
