At least one person was killed and a dozen others injured when a bomb exploded in a food market in Lahore, the capital of Pakistan's Punjab province.
According to Deputy Inspector General Police Rai Tahir, a time device planted at the ground floor of a three-storey building in Old Anarkali food street went off at 11:45 A.M.
About a dozen people were injured and shifted to Mayo Hospital where one of them succumbed to his injuries and the condition of three was stated to be critical, the DIG said.
This is a second blast in this famous food street during the last few months.
Mian Shafiq, who was present at a restaurant near the blast site, said he was busy eating his 'breakfast' when he heard a powerful explosion.
"The windowpanes of my restaurant broke. For a moment I lost consciousness too," he said, adding that more damage could have been done in terms of human life as the presence of people was thin because it was neither a breakfast nor a lunch time.
Rescue 1122 personnel reached the spot after 15 minutes of the incident and shifted the injured to hospital.
The DIG said over one kilogram explosive material was used in the device.
Although Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has been the target of Taliban these days, Punjab is said to be spared by them (Taliban) because Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif reportedly had an agreement with them.
Under the reported agreement, the Punjab government will not carry out operation in the south Punjab to flush out Punjabi Taliban and in return the Tehrik-i-Taliban will not commit any terror act in the province of 90-million.
