Rooms at the originating station or at the destination station could be reserved online at 67 stations including Amritsar, Patna, Jammu, Shimla, Ahemedabad, said a senior Railway Ministry official.
Earlier online facility for booking retiring rooms was available for a few stations like Mumbai and New Delhi only.
A retiring room or a dormitory bed can be booked for a minimum of 12 hours and a maximum of 48 hours. One can book a retiring room both at the originating and the destination station of the journey.
The facility has been extended at several stations like Allahabad, Lucknow, Amethi and Rae Bareli among others and a passenger having a confirmed ticket can use the electronic system to book retiring room at at the website of www.Railtourismindia.Com, he said.
