"The Monster Employment Index has shown a robust growth in online job opportunities in April this year. The 26 per cent growth is evidence to a progressively growing employment market," Sanjay Modi MD Monster.Com (India/Middle-East/South East Asia/Hong Kong) said.
Of the 27 industry sectors monitored by the Index, online recruitment activity exceeded the year-ago level in 14 industry groups.
Production and manufacturing saw dramatic growth (up 62 per cent) in opportunities from the year-ago this month.
"The 62 per cent increase in Production & Manufacturing opportunities is encouraging and is quite a symbolic change with the government's efforts towards creating growth story for India," Modi said.
Meanwhile, online hiring activity improved for 12 of the 13 occupation groups monitored by the Index.
Baroda (up 43 per cent) and Kochi (up 42 per cent) once again led all monitored cities charting the steepest growth. While, among major cities, Mumbai registered 23 per cent jump in online hiring, Bangalore (22 per cent), the report said.
