Open to enter into alliance with NEDA: UDP

The United Democratic Party (UDP) today said that they are open to enter into alliance with the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) in Meghalaya since both the parties share common agendas of corruption and development.
The UDP had openly supported the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance last year after the BJP was voted to power in Assam. Since then, the party has formed governments in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.
"There are similarities in issues that the UDP and the BJP share. Both are against corruption and fight for development and hence open to an alliance," UDP chief Donkupar Roy said here.

"We are open to an alliance with like-minded parties since last year and but there have been no fruitful talks till date," Roya said.
"There should be common agenda in an alliance. We will welcome the grand alliance of the NEDA. Talks are on and we are waiting response from other regional parties," he said.
In the 60-member Meghalaya Assembly, the UDP has eight legislators.
