"We are happy that Supreme Court has rejected the twin petitions and this shows that the Trinamool Congress had started a false campaign which was politically motivated," state BJP President Rahul Sinha told PTI.
Trinamool Congress had been alleging so long that BJP was trying to influence the CBI probe into the scam, he said, adding, "The party had been doing this to cover up their misdeeds and only to delay the investigation process which has been rightly rejected by the Supreme Court."
The apex court had also rejected the contempt petitions filed against state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and another minister of the cabinet for allegedly preventing CBI from carrying out the probe.
West Bengal Law Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said, "It is not that the petitions have been rejected entirely. The apex court has made some observations which will be known after getting a copy of the order."
"The rejection of the petitions would make the people of the state happy," he added.
