Orientation programme for govt teachers: Badal

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today asked Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) and State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) to jointly run an orientation programme for government school teachers.
Under the progarmme teachers will be trained to improve their teaching skills so as to enable them to discharge their duties with utmost dedication, sincerity and professional commitment, he said.
This decision was taken by Badal while reviewing the progress of eleven 'Adarsh Schools', run and managed by the PSEB, during a meeting with their principals here, an official spokesman said.
Emphasising on the significance of training the, Badal said that such refresher courses/training modules must be made mandatory for all the teachers to attend at least one session during every academic session for up- skilling their teaching capabilities and capacities.
To bring far more efficiency in the working of the SCERT, Badal asked the Principal Secretary Education to work out the modalities for making cadre based recruitment in the district level training institutes under SCERT.
The minister sanctioned Rs one crore for the state teachers' training programme to be initiated by SCERT in collaboration with PSEB.
Referring to the demands put forth by the various Principals of the Adarsh Schools, the CM asked the PSEB chairperson to ensure timely recruitment of teaching faculty besides completion of unfinished buildings and provision of proper infrastructure including Science Laboratories, Libraries and construction of playgrounds and sports stadium on priority.
He also asked the PSEB Chairperson to regularly monitor the functioning of Adarsh Schools so as to make them running smoothly for imparting quality education to the students especially of the rural areas.
