Over one lakh micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have registered under the simplified Aadhaar-based registration system launched in September to promote ease of doing business.
"Within just three months, 1,01,303 people have registered with the Udyog Aadhaar. We have made the process of registration very easy. We are not demanding any major document and no validation, so this reflects trust of people," MSME Secretary Anup Pujari told PTI.
He said getting this registration may help the units in availing the benefits given by central and state governments for MSMEs like bank credit.
They can also start selling their products to public sector units.
MSME Ministry had come out with a one-page Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum to be filled online by all unregistered MSMEs, a move aimed at simplifying registration procedure for entrepreneurs and promoting ease of doing business.
Existing enterprises, which have filed Entrepreneurship Memorandum - I (EM-I) or EM -II or both, or the holders of the Small Scale Industry Registration, prior to the coming into force of MSMED Act 2006, are not required to file Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum, but they may file it if they so desire.
As many as 23,346 people have registered in Maharashtra followed by Rajasthan (14,278), Telengana (9,339) and Karnataka (5,300).
These registrations are as of 0400 hours today.
