The drive, which began in the morning, was undertaken to make way for a service road on the busy Ghodbunder Road which links the city with the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway.
According to a TMC release, more than 100 structures were demolished under heavy police protection.
Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal along with senior officials of TMC supervised the drive which was initially opposed by some of the occupants.
Offences were registered against nine persons, who tried to create hindrance in the drive, the release said.
The civic chief said rehabilitation would be undertaken for those eligible for it.
