More than 200 cartons of liquor were seized during raids in Bihar's West Champaran district, police said today, adding eight persons, including a woman, have been arrested in this connection.
Sale and consumption of liquor was completely banned in Bihar by the Nitish Kumar government two years ago.
One hundred and twenty-one litres of liquor were seized from an ambulance which was coming from Haryana at Mofussil police station area of the district late last night, West Champaran Police Superintendent Jayant Kant said.
The driver of the ambulance has been arrested, he said.
In another raid conducted in the town police station area, 88 cartons of foreign liquor were seized from a house owned by a retired bank official, the SP said.
A couple and five of their accomplices were arrested in this connection, the SP added.
